A proposal to improve a Quinte West Historic Site has yet to be approved.
Sidney ward resident and local historian Alex McNaught appeared before city council Monday night asking that
it approve a $113 cost per engraved stone to create an Ancestral Circle of Stones at the site of Ontario’s oldest town hall, the Old Sidney Town Hall Park located in Wallbridge.
Sidney Ward residents, or people who had previously lived in Sidney, would be eligible to buy engraved stones with their names or names of others in their family in the stones to be installed into the ground permanently at the park.
Councillor David O’Neil believed each stone should be priced at $200 which is the actual cost of the stone plus installation.
The matter was sent back to the Public Works Committee again for further discussion.
