Belleville police are once again warning residents to be wary of people who knock on their doors asking for donations.
Police suspect there may be door-to-door canvassers on the streets now who are simply putting donations into their own pockets.
Police advise that residents should ask for identification, such as name and organization tags.
Anyone can print an authentic looking donation sheet from the internet.
Police also say you should never allow a canvasser inside your home and always ask for a receipt should you decide to donate.
