Hastings Prince Edward Board of Heath welcomes the news that Premier Doug Ford has backtracked on budget cuts to public health for 2019.
Public Health Board Chair Jo-Anne Albert tells Quinte News “This is very good news. A welcome announcement.”
The original announcement increased the municipal budget contribution from 25% to 30% and included cutbacks to the 100% provincially funded programs.
Albert tells Quinte News this announcement will give the board and staff time to find efficiencies “in a more meaningful way.”
Albert indicated the board has not yet had a chance to discuss the issue.
She says it’s not yet clear what will happen to provincial funding for public health in 2020.
