Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
On May 16, 2019, a pickup truck was stolen from a business in the north end of town. The suspect had stolen the keys to the vehicle without the knowledge of the owner. Shortly after the vehicle theft, the suspect was involved in a minor accident with another vehicle in the general vicinity of that business. The male suspect provided his information to the other driver for report purposes. When the other driver reported the collision to police, it led Belleville Police officers to the suspected thief. Twenty-four-year-old Jacob Andrew of Quinte West was arrested on May 24, 2019 and charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5000. Mr. Andrew was released on a Promise to Appear with a first court appearance on June 13, 2019.
Liquor Licence Act
On May 24, 2019, at approximately 11:05 p.m., police were called to a west end location regarding an out of control female. Upon arrival, police quickly ascertained that the female in question was heavily intoxicated due to the consumption of several alcoholic beverages coupled with marijuana. The female had entered into a minor physical altercation with another person causing the police to be called. A 27-year-old Belleville woman was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place, for her own safety as well as the safety of others. She was later released on a provincial offence notice when she was deemed to be sober enough to no longer pose a threat to herself or others.
