Centre Hastings Council has approved the 2019 budget with a total tax increase of 2.49% including the municipality, the county and the school board.
The spending plan will totalĀ $10,618,713 and includes a number of road projects and the start of the process to install a new well.
Mayor Tom Deline tells Quinte News councillors and staff were happy with the number they settled on.
In addressing the well project, Deline noted that it would likely be financed through debt over an extended period of time
The 2.49% tax increase works out to an average of $67.68 per year, on a home valued at $199,728.
Meanwhile, Centre Hastings council has also taken the next step in allowing a medical marijuana production facility to set up shop.
Zoning approval was given to Stonepath Greenhouses for the 722 square foot facility on Quin-Mo-Lac Road, which would include a greenhouse for production and a warehouse for distribution.

The by-law also prohibits any open storage on the property along with a number of distance restrictions, in comparison with residential areas.
