An accident in Belleville turned out alright thanks to a couple of rescuers.
The director of Gleaners Food Bank, Susanne Quinlan, is recovering after being rescued from a fall into a cistern near the food bank on Wallbridge Crescent in Belleville, on Wednesday night.
Sam Airhart of Quinte Welding tells Quinte News he was working in his shop nearby at about 8 p.m.
The welding shop door was open and he heard someone screaming for help.
He continues. “I yelled, ‘Where, where are you?’ She said, ‘In the cistern.'”
Airhart says he ran toward the site and another man from across the street joined him.
Quinlan had accidentally slipped into the cistern.
She was up to her armpits in water and was holding onto the edge with her arms when she was rescued.
Quinlan’s son, Mike Quinlan, tells Quinte News he thanked Airhart personally, and wanted people to know about the men who rescued his mother.
He says she is recovering in hospital.
