(Napanee, ON) – The Lennox and Addington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are asking boaters to exercise caution on the waterways in and around Lennox and Addington County.
The OPP have received complaints about debris in the water off Hay Bay, and the OPP Marine Unit Patrol has reported observing large logs and other items floating off the channel as far east as the Bateau Channel near Howe Island.
As the warmer weather makes its way to the area, high water levels and unnecessary wake from boaters who don’t slow down when near the shore can cause increasing shoreline erosion issues.
The OPP is counting on everyone being on board with making it a safe boating season in Ontario. If you suspect that a person is operating any type of boat while impaired, call 911 and report them.
