The Executive Director of the Quinte Humane Society says charges could be laid in the fraud investigation involving the shelter.
Frank Rockett says he has had contact with Belleville Police, and he says the investigation continues.
City police have not laid any charges to this point.
Rockett says things began when one donor to the animal shelter contacted him to get a tax receipt. When the donation was not on file, alarm bells went off. He tells us that cheques were taken from the QHS postal box.
It is believed that just over 50 cheques were stolen.
No details on a suspect are known at this time.
