Jackie Jarrell’s well used passport is about to get another stamp.
The 34 year old Belleville native has been named to Team Canada’s roster for the upcoming World Womens Inline Hockey Championship in Barcelona Spain in July.
This will be Jarrell’s 11th World championship tournament which has taken her to France, the Czech Republic, Italy, Germany, Columbia and elsewhere. She helped Canada win gold in 2012 where she was named the MVP. That year Jarrell was also selected Belleville’s Athlete of the Year.
Jarrell says her role with Team Canada has expanded with her experience.
While Jarrell is a veteran of the World Championships she says every year is a new experience.
Jarrell missed last years championship due to a back injury but has pronounced herself fully healed and ready to play. In her ten previous world tournaments Canada has won gold twice, six silver and 2 bronze medals.
The owner of the Gold Performance Training Centre on Blessington Road in Corbyville was also excited that five local teenagers have been selected for Canada’s Junior Womens team that will also play in Barcelona June 28th to July 4th. They are goaltender Anna-Bell Phillips, defence Abby Hicks and Delany Stoltz, and forwards Emily Moore and Hanna Phillips.
