You’re going to have to be a bit more careful when it comes to sorting your recycling.
If you’ve just been throwing your paper and plastics in whichever blue box is closest, you may find it’s no longer being picked up on recycling day.
Quinte Waste Solutions communications coordinator Rebecca Foreman says their collectors are no longer picking up the tall blue boxes if they contain paper.
She says paper in the tall boxes can quickly make them quite heavy, and even more so if wet.
Foreman explains the policy has always been in place, but following a workplace injury, the policy is now being enforced.
A tall blue box with materials other than plastic and metal will not be accepted.
