It was a day to celebrate the generosity of many of our community members as the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation unveiled their updated donor wall.
One hundred forty-six new names were added to the donor wall for the first time or were moved up to a new giving level at the Annual Donor Appreciation event.
Executive Director Wendy Warner says without the donations, medical staff wouldn’t have the state-of-the-art technology and tools they need to provide the best care patients require.
Warner told those in attendance at the event they are making health care better for everyone else and their donations enable staff to provide care patients deserve, close to home.
This year Lanny and Catharine Huff were recognized at the Grant Benefactor level.
Darrell Smith, chair of the TMHF Board of Directors says the donations helped purchase a new CT scanner, equipment for cataract surgery, ECG machine, hospital beds, a portable x-ray unit and more.
He said the ultimate goal is to enhance the well-being of the community.
Ron and Moira Bryson also made a $10,000 donation to the Foundation at the event.
Smith says they are now working towards obtaining 67 IV pumps for the hospital. He says they cost $5,000 each.
The Lions Club of Trenton will match donations up to $50,000 for this initiative, and the Spelmer Drive to Save Lives will help fund the purchase of three new hospital defibrillators.
During the event, board member Pam Pettigrew paid a special tribute to Elizabeth (Betty) Barr, who was a registered nurse in the maternity department at TMH when it first opened in 1953. Barr was a hospital foundation supporter until her passing last fall.
Community Health Centre Executive Director Sheila Braidek had the opportunity to discuss the Health Hub.
The Health Hub will be located across from the TMH Emergency Department.
