Emergency Preparedness Week is taking place province-wide until the May 11 and today, Northumberland County launched their new smartphone app, designed to help people be better prepared.
Northumberland County Community Emergency Management Coordinator Ken Stubbings says the app provides simple steps people can follow to help them be self-sufficient for up to 72 hours following an emergency.
The app, which is free, includes tips and tools such as a family emergency plan template, a checklist for a 72-hour emergency kit, information about evacuations and shelter in place orders and more.
This app is available through the Apple App and Google Play stores by searching for ‘Northumberland Emergency Preparedness’.
Emergency preparedness information is also available at Northumberland.ca/BePrepared.
