On Monday, May 6, 2019, officers from Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Prince Edward County detachment received a report of mischief along an ATV trail at Point Petre, South Marysburgh Township.
Further details indicated that unknown suspects strung “spiderwire” type fishing line across the trail at various heights. One rider was struck at chest height which caused them to be pushed back on their ATV.
No injuries were sustained due to the speed the ATV was travelling at and the conditions of the trails.
Approximately five other lines were removed with several strung at neck height.
Prince Edward County OPP are urging riders to pay attention to their surroundings while on the trails and to be cautious.
Police are continuing their investigation and are asking that anyone with information regarding this incident or if anyone has witnessed anything unusual to contact the OPP Provincial Communications Centre at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222- 8477(TIPS).
