For the third year in a row Ecole Secondaire Publique Marc-Garneau was first among Quinte region secondary schools
in the annual Fraser Institute rankings.
The Trenton-based French-speaking high school scored a 7.6 out of 10 in 2017/18 and placed 117 out of 738 schools ranked across Ontario.
The rankings are based on standardized testing in math and literacy skills.
Ranking second locally was Nicholson of Belleville at 6.7 and third was St Paul of Trenton at 6.5. Both schools are with the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic School Board.
East Northumberland Secondary School and Campbellford High School tied at 5.9 from the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board.
Among high schools in the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board, Bayside Secondary scored a 5.8 out of 10 followed by Centennial and East Side Secondary schools at 5.2 and 5.1 respectively.
The number one ranked secondary school in Ontario was the private Havergal College of Toronto which scored 10 out of 10.
