A special ceremony will be held at Belleville cenotaph on Sunday to mark three special events in two World Wars.
Belleville Veterans Council is presenting the ceremony to commemorate the Battle of Vimy Ridge in World War One, the Battle of the Atlantic in World War Two, and VE Day, marking the end of World War Two.
He noted that the special oak tree at the cenotaph, from acorns brought to Canada by a veteran of the battle of Vimy Ridge, is growing well.
There are still some veterans of World War Two in the area who are in their nineties.
Shoebridge says the Veterans Council word is “We must never forget.”
The city has provided seating for those who need it.
The commemorative service begins at 2 p.m. Sunday at Belleville Cenotaph on Station Street.
There is a reception at ANAF Duke of Edinburgh Unit 201, 187 Front St, afterward.
You can hear Mary Thomas’ full interview with Larry Shoebridge on Newsmaker Sunday, this Sunday at the noon hour, on 800 CJBQ.
