Popups are coming
Belleville council has approved four Popup businesses for the waterfront for the summer months.
They are Doug’s Bicycle, Brick Oven Pizza, Cruising Canoes and Gold Performance Training.
Manager of Development Karen Poste told council Tuesday night a comprehensive marketing plan will role out this week.
The four Popups will launch at Victoria Park on May 17, and be open for business from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week.
Checking out taxi service
Belleville council is calling for a staff report on taxi service in the city.
At city council Tuesday night, Councillor Chris Malette read out a message that some people have to wait an hour for a ride and there is a “ground swell” of interest in having an Uber or Lyfte type service in the city.
Councillor Malette asked for a management report on the operation and permit regulations regarding taxi service, and how to accommodate the service in urban and rural areas.
