The Napanee Raiders host the Grimsby Peach Kings in game 5 of the Ontario Junior “C” Hockey championship tomorrow (Tuesday) night, and the Clarence “Tubby” Schmaltz Cup will be in the house.
The Raiders knocked off Grimsby 4-1 yesterday to open a 3-1 lead in the series.
Cameron Harris scored at 17:31 of the first period which proved to be the winner. Curtis Marrison, Cullen Hinds and Justynn Steven scored the others for Napanee as they outshot Grimsby 27-18. Napanee has an eye popping 19-1 playoff record.
The Clarence “Tubby Schmaltz” Cup was first awarded in 1938. Only two local teams have ever won it. Napanee in 1993 and the Picton Pirates in 2013.
