Hastings County’s Queen of the Furrow appeared before county council recently to give an update on this year’s Plowing Match and Farm Show.
Eastern Ontario’s largest annual outdoor farm show is set for a farm in Centre Hastings.
The 2018-2019 Queen of the Furrow, Samantha Reid, told council there will be 300 vendors on site this year.
Reid has spent part of the year visiting schools.
Reid tells Quinte News, “The biggest message is to promote the Plowing Match and Farm Show not just in the rural areas but urban areas as well. People experience the agricultural industry and see what it does for our county and community.”
She says the show is fun for children as well.
The 2019 Plowing Match and Farm Show takes place at the farm of Brian and April Thompson, on August 21 and August 22.
A new Queen of the Furrow will be chosen this summer but Reid says she will take part in further competitions this fall.
