A couple of Belleville entrepreneurs have had a chance to show off their invention at a competition in western Ontario recently.
The start-up company, owned by Loyalist College graduates Brett Lyons and Dylan Houlden, has competed in the “Pitch@Palace Canada” event.
Your Mobility Innovations designs and produces adjustable grab bars for public washrooms, for the elderly or people with disabilities.
Lyons tells Quinte News it involves a “hand crank.”
Pitch@Palace Canada, founded by Prince Andrew, Duke of York, is an international competition for entrepreneurs that provides exposure to a global network.
Seventeen entrepreneurs from across Ontario competed at the event in Kitchener. The Rideau Hall Foundation, an independent charitable organization, is the official Canadian partner helping to bring Pitch@Palace to Canada.
The Pitch@Palace competition advances to London, England in December.
Lyons says they did not go to the next level in the competition but appreciated the exposure their product received.
Your Mobility Innovations is working on getting the product, the grab bar, into Long Term Care homes.
