Visits have been suspended at Warkworth Institution as a lockdown has been put in place.
The security measure has been in effect since 10:30 Sunday morning, when staff at the medium security prison began a search of the facility.
Normal operations will resume once staff determine it is safe to do so.
The lockdown and search are part of the Correctional Service of Canada’s commitment to stopping contraband from entering and circulating around its facilities.
