In what was the lowest scoring final in the history of the HSBC World Rugby Women’s Sevens Series, Napanee’s Britt Benn and Team Canada have won the Kitakyushu Sevens tournament in Japan. Team Canada defeated England 7-5 in the final to move into second place in the series standings behind New Zealand. This was the 4th in the 6 event series which moves on to Victoria British Columbia next month. The Belleville born Benn has scored 8 tries in 24 matches this year.
It was Canada’s first title in the series since February 2017.
The top 4 teams qualify for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
