Sergeant Jason Folz of the Central Region OPP has confirmed to Quinte News that the body found over the weekend in Campbellford is that of missing woman Nicole Smith.
The Campbellford woman had been missing since last August.
Sgt. Folz says a postmortem was conducted and resulted in the woman’s body being positively identified as the missing 25-year-old.
A search party of friends and family came across the remains while undergoing a major search for Smith on Saturday evening inside a wooded area of Lion’s Park.
The investigation is ongoing and is being led by the Criminal Investigations Branch of the OPP.
