The mayor of Belleville is happier than he thought he would be as far as yesterday’s provincial budget is concerned.
Mitch Panciuk had worried that the PC government was going to drastically cut back spending but he’s happy with the more gradual approach taken.
The mayor also likes plans for more investment in housing.
Panciuk also praises committments to more long-term care beds and more spending to help those suffering with mental health issues.
Overall, the mayor is “cautiously optimistic” as he wants to see the details on how and when the spending will take place.
