UPDATE @ 2:15 p.m.: A fire on a farm in a rural northern part of Belleville Wednesday morning could have been much worse.
Firefighters were called to a reported barn blaze on Zion Road, around 11:00 a.m.
Fire prevention officer Dave MacMullen tells Quinte News the property owners discovered the flames quickly and were able to prevent things from getting out of hand.
MacMullen says the fire started after an electrical issue with a suspended portable heater, which fell to the ground and sparked the flames.

Belleville stations three and four were called to the scene of a barn fire this morning.
Fire crews were called to 1050 Zion Road around 10:30.
The fire was extinguished a short time later but not before Quinte West and Tyendinaga were called to provide tanker support.
Belleville firefighters remained on scene to douse any hot spots.
This fire comes a week after the Fire Department said they were making the prevention of barn fires a priority.
