Affordable Housing
The Affordable Housing Corporation could see some funds transferred from the County to begin their work.
Council in Prince Edward County will have a by-law in front of them on Tuesday evening to approve.
If the by-law is approved, this will see the balance of funds from last year’s operating budget for Affordable Housing moved to the Affordable Housing Corporation.
The amount is estimated at almost $170,500.
The Affordable Housing Corporation is looking to create a community where all residents can work and afford to live, and promote the development of diverse housing options.
Strategic Plan
Prince Edward County Council is looking to move forward with their 2019 Corporate and Strategic Plan.
If approved on Tuesday evening, the company MDB Insight will facilitate the strategic plan at a cost of over $39,000.
Over a span of 12 weeks, the company would consult with the community, council, community and economic development council and staff to help form the basis for future priority and strategy reference for the strategic plan.
The new strategic plan will be a guiding document for several years.
Prince Edward County has budgeted $40,000 for this initiative and a final report is expected by late summer.
Picton Harbour Drainage Project
An agreement between Prince Edward County and Quinte Conservation to deal with the Picton Harbour could be put in place on Tuesday night.
Quinte Conservation is seeking an additional $30,000 in funding to address numerous outfalls that drain untreated stormwater directly into Picton Bay, as well as develop a plan for accommodating future development in the town.
Quinte Conservation has already secured $95,000 needed for this project through Environment Canada and the Great Lakes Sustainability Fund.
The agency is also hoping to receive matching funds through the Canada Ontario Agreement fund through the Provincial Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks, but that funding is uncertain at this time according to Quinte Conservation officials.
The total project has a budget of $285,000.
If the provincial funding is received by Quinte Conservation, the County would be reimbursed the additional $30,000
Council meets at Shire Hall at 7 p.m.
