The Belleville Police Service responded to 51 calls for service between April 5, 2019 at 5 a.m. and April 6, 2019 at 5 a.m.
Bail violations
On April 5, 2019, at approximately 9 a.m., police received information that a male was breaching his recognizance of bail. Moreover, officers were made aware that the male was at the Quinte Consolidated Courthouse dealing with other matters on that same day. Consequently, a 47-year-old Quinte West man was arrested for breach of recognizance (3 counts) and held for a show cause hearing on April 5, 2019.
On April 5, 2019, at approximately 8:10 p.m., police stopped a 43-year-old Belleville woman for failing to stop for a red light in the city’s west end. The accused was on bail conditions to be with her surety who was not present at the time of the stop. The accused was charged with breach of recognizance and failing to stop for a red light. The accused was held for a video remand later today.
Impaired Driving
On April 5, 2019, at approximately 7:20 p.m., a 40-year-old Belleville woman drove into a parked vehicle at the HSC parking lot on Dundas St. E. The accused then drove into a ditch and struck a metal pole which caused her vehicle’s rear bumper to rip off. The accused then drove to the Belleville Police station. A concerned citizen followed the accused and observed her vehicle weaving in and out of its own lane. The accused was arrested and charged with refusal to provide a breath sample, breach of peace bond and other traffic-related offences. The accused was held for a video remand later today.
Warrants
On April 5, 2019, at approximately 6:45 p.m., a 26-year-old Belleville woman was arrested on warrants for theft under $5,000 and 2 counts of breach of recognizance. Officers were on general patrol and observed the accused in a vehicle at Russell Place. The accused was held for a video remand later today
