The Quinte Humane Society is still awaiting the results of a police investigation into stolen cheques from the shelter.
Twenty-three cheques have been stolen from a postal box.
QHS Executive Director Frank Rockett says if you have donated and have not received a tax receipt, the best thing to do is to call the shelter.
It is estimated about $10,000 has been taken.
