The City of Quinte West will be asking the federal government to help with the major reconstruction of the King Street corridor project.
Councillors have asked staff to make an application to the Investing In Canada Infrastructure Program, which could provide up to $3.9 million towards the $5 million-plus program.
Mayor Jim Harrison says that could make a big impact on the work.
Council likely won’t hear back about the request for six months or so, but has already budgeted for the project, which is set to go to public consultation this year, with construction spanning through 2020 to 2021.
