A novice driver will appear in court next month after he was caught driving on the 401, 70 kms an hour over the speed limit.
Northumberland OPP say 23-year-old Trenlin Troy Aaron Smart of Cobourg was pulled over on March 24 just after 3 p.m. after an officer spotted the car traveling at 170 km/h.
The officer discovered he was also a G1 driver and was driving under the influence.
Smart is facing racing a motor vehicle, novice driver with a blood alcohol content above zero, driving on a prohibited highway and unaccompanied by a qualified driver charges.
His licence was suspended and his vehicle towed.
