There wasn’t much discussion Monday night before Belleville Planning Advisory Committee recommended council approve the rezoning of close to 40 acres of land stretching from Bell Boulevard north to Highway 401.
The rezoning would allow for a huge retail/commercial/service industry development whose feature attraction would be a Costco outlet.
Mayor Mitch Panciuk says existing businesses in the area should not worry that the development would have a negative impact on their bottom lines.
It’s expected the development will bring the city $2.3 million in one-time permit and development fees and about $1.2 million in tax revenue once completely up and running in the next few years.
