Hastings County taxpayers can expect to see an increase on the county tax bill this year.
Finance Director Sue Horwood presented a 2019 budget of $143.8 million, with a tax levy of $14.5 million to county council Thursday.
This means a tax hike of 1.96%, that is a little more than $8.91 on the average tax bill on a residential assessment of $178,000.
Funding requests from Kingston General Hospital Foundation and the Belleville General Hospital and Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundations were not approved.
The budget includes funding allocations of $200,000, including $50,000 to North Hastings Hospital fund and $50,000 for Loyalist College.
Warden Rick Phillips tells Quinte News the county is meeting its obligations to Bancroft Hospital and will make a $50,000 donation to Field of Ability in Belleville.
CAO Jim Pine says the budget is focused mainly on capital work, particularly for Long Term Care.
The budget includes a levy of $30.9 million for shared services with Belleville and Quinte West.
Belleville $13.1 million
Quinte West $8.9 million
Hastings County $8.8 million
