Council and staff in Brighton are getting closer to setting their 2019 budget.
Council held a budget discussion on Tuesday evening and Mayor Brian Ostrander feels things are moving along well.
He says after the meeting they are looking at a 5% blended increase.
Ostrander says this budget allows for additional brushing and ditching to address drainage issues while also putting money towards storm water management.
Other projects on the budget this year include the design of the skate park, the municipal hall/library project and wifi in the downtown starting at Memorial Park. A stage with video screen at the park is also in the budget for this year.
The 5% increase works out to between $10-$12 dollars per $100,000 assessment.
Another budget discussion is in the works and Ostander is hoping to have a completed budget for approval by mid-April.
