The provincial government is investing money locally to encourage the discovery of better, and hopefully, less costly ways of doing business.
Bay of Quinte riding MPP and Government House Leader Todd Smith announced $1.53 million for his riding on Sunday.
The funding to help find efficiencies is targeted at rural communities and not highly populated urban ones.
MPP Smith says the City of Belleville will receive a little over $87,000 while Quinte West will get $725,000 and Prince Edward County will receive a boost of $750,000.
The funding demands a line by line look at local budgets and consideration of such ideas as service delivery reviews, shared services agreements, IT agreements, or other projects.
In total, 405 municipalities in Ontario will receive funding under the program.
