A retirement fundraiser was much more than best wishes and congratulations.
People gathered at Signal Brewery on Thursday night to celebrate Bob Clute’s retirement as Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity Prince Edward-Hastings.
Belleville Mayor Mitch Panciuk announced the City is donating a new build site to the organization.
He explains where the idea to do this came from.
He says it has been a number of years since the City donated a portion of land and the timing was ideal.
The donated land at 639 Sidney Street was purchased by the City as part of the Sidney Street corridor improvement project.
Panciuk says there are limited sites owned by the City appropriate for this purpose and they are pleased to be able to provide this option.
He says helping a family who would never be able to own a home of their own is a hand up for our community.
Panciuk told Quinte News this is just the beginning of more to come.
The 66’x144′ lot is valued at $72,000 and is fully-serviced.
