The Belleville Police Services Board will discuss regulating how tow trucks operate in the city.
At its meeting Tuesday, the board will see a report from Chief of Police Ron Gignac that expresses the public’s concern about tow truck drivers stopping their vehicles at collision scenes with or without emergency responders being present.
The Chief mentions one occasion where competing drivers physically fought each other over who would tow a vehicle away.
The bylaw being proposed would force tow truck operators arriving at an accident scene to initially park their vehicles at least 200 metres away.
