Brighton council will be considering joining the Bay of Quinte Regional Marketing Board as it continues its 2019 budget discussions in the coming days.
TheĀ marketing board promotesĀ the Quinte region to tourists and potential new residents locally, and in the Toronto area and elsewhere using traditional and social media.
Mayor of Brighton Brian Ostrander hopes council will approve joining the board as it will only promote specific events and facilities that belong to its current members.
The members are the cities of Belleville and Quinte West, and the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, along with the Bay of Quinte Homebuilders Association and Quinte Accommodations and Attractions Partnership.
The cost to taxpayers in Brighton to join would be $1.55 per capita or over $18,000 a year based on the 2016 population census.
The population count would not include people incarcerated at Warkworth Institution.
Brighton, which is in Northumberland County, has been a longstanding member of the Quinte Economic Development Commission, with which the marketing board also partners.
