The City of Quinte West has announced they are going to add one percent to municipal taxes, specifically for capital infrastructure projects.
The Municipality of Brighton is looking to do the same thing.
Mayor Brian Ostrander tells Quinte News that something needs to be done, because they are falling too far behind.
He says one percent is only about $80,000.
Ostrander says it will go straight to roads, sewers, sidewalks, and other road work.
His Worship says in order to keep up, they need to invest $2.5 million annually, and they have not been doing that.
