The Federal Government is making it easier for one Marmora business to become more accessible.
Hastings – Lennox and Addington MP Mike Bossio announced today the Parkin Professional Building has received over $24,000 in funding support through the small projects component of the Enabling Accessibility Fund.
The funds will allow for the installation of a chair lift and automated door openers to improve accessibility.
Jim Perkins, President of FairTradeWorks (Parkin Professional Building) says this federal funding will allow the Parkin Professional Building to finally be inclusive for everyone in the community. He states “while the historic building is beautiful, the steep stairs and raised entry have stopped many clients from being able to visit or get beyond the main floor to visit businesses. Ramps and a chair lift will break down all these barriers and transform the space into a fully accessible commercial facility.”
MP Bossio says today’s announcement is another example of what the government is doing to help Canadians with disabilities gain access and contribute to their workplaces and communities, including in rural communities.
