A transport truck driver who thought he’d avoid the backlog of traffic on the Emergency Detour Route on Sunday afternoon ended up causing a secondary collision.
Northumberland OPP responded around 4:30 p.m. to a single vehicle collision on Boes Road, just east of Brighton.
The transport left the EDR and struck a concrete CN Railway overpass.
A 23-year-old from Brampton is facing charges of failure to remain, failure to report, careless driving, disobey sign and failure to accurately complete daily inspection report.
He will appear in Cobourg court on May 8.
