A major search is underway for a helicopter and two people in northern Ontario.
This morning (Saturday), the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre Trenton and the RCAF declared what’s known as a “major search and rescue operation”.
That declaration allows extra resources to be called into action.
It’s believed the Robinson R66 chopper went missing between Sudbury and Kapuskasing.
The search is based out of Timmins.
Searching the region are two Hercules aircraft and two Griffon helicopters from 424 Squadron at CFB Trenton.
Other aircraft are involved from 17 Wing Winnipeg, 439 Squadron Bagotville, Quebec, and from the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association.
