Quinte West council will be discussing a proposed operating budget at a special meeting Monday night.
Staff is presenting a 2019 budget with a modest residential tax increase of just under 2%.
The 1.96% increase would mean a yearly increase of between 61 and 67 dollars on the average house in Quinte West assessed at $255,000.
The budget includes significant grants to various organizations, including $200,000 for 10 years to the proposed Natural History Museum, $62,500
for 4 years to the Quinte Humane Society, and a one time donation of $50,000 to the Field of Ability.

Meanwhile, staff is suggesting council build in $500,000 of new money each year to transfer to an account to help pay for capital projects.
The special budget meeting will be held Monday at 6 p.m. at city hall.
