The Protective Services Committee in Quinte West could be looking at closing a fire hall.
A review has been underway as to the usefulness of the Batawa Fire Hall.
Councillor Sally Freeman, who sits on the committee, says there are few volunteers living near the hall, and property is owned by Bata Corporation.
Freeman says because of the proximity to Frankford, they may consider building a new hall between the two communities.
She adds that nothing will happen until a consultant is brought in.
Freeman says public consultation will also be part of the next steps.
Meantime, the Protective Services Committee is proposing a name change to Fire and Emergency Services Committee.
That will be decided at the next council meeting.
