It was a rare sight indeed on Tuesday afternoon on the 401 as Northumberland OPP used snowmobiles to reach stranded vehicles on the major highway.
Police say there were a high number of collisions in both directions during yesterday’s snowfall.
Officers responded to 35 weather-related collisions and assisted multiple disabled vehicles and stranded motorists.
Lengthy closures on the 401 were a result of the whiteout conditions experienced.
There were no major injuries as a result of the collisions caused by the severe weather.
