Work continues on the risk management plan for a piece of land in Belleville’s harbour area.
Ontario’s Environmental Review Tribunal has heard an update on the enquiry into and possible cleanup of the site near the harbourfront.
A study under the Ministry of Environment concluded last fall that contamination was not from the coal plant but from historic use of the property.
This month had been set as a target date for completion of a Risk Management Measures report.
At a Tribunal meeting in Toronto on Monday, it was decided to move that report to April because of delays caused by the municipal election.
This, along with a Risk Management Plan, will be submitted to the Ministry.
Comments from landowners Kent D. Hawkins and Naomi and Sidney Spiegel will also be sought and submitted.
Then comes the decision on who pays for what, if and when mediation is required.
