February in the Quinte region had it all when it comes to weather. At times it was like spring had sprung, there were heavy snowfalls, bone-chilling temperatures, and dangerous wind and ice storms but at the end of the month the math shows it was pretty much a garden variety February.
Over the years, the average high temperature for a February in our area is plus one and last month the average high was just a little colder at half a degree below zero.
The normal average low is minus 11 celsius while last month it was minus 10.
As far as precipitation is concerned we received just 7 centimetres more snow than the usual 35 cm last month.
And, it rained a bit more last month than it usually does in a February as we received 38 millimetres while the average rainfall is 29 mm.
