The Glanmore National Historic Site advisory committee will take the next step in Belleville’s consideration of turning the historic old train station into a city museum.
Earlier this year Mayor Mitch Panciuk indicated to Via Rail that the city is interested in the building on Station Street as a museum, on a lease arrangement.
Director of Recreation and Culture Mark Fluhrer tells Quinte News on Tuesday it’s “in very early stages.”
He said, “All too early to answer questions, we haven’t looked at all the aspects. We’re in the early stages of process, working with Via Rail and discussing what the possibilities are in terms of the use of that building.”
Fluhrer says, at its meeting next week, the committee will consider the feasibility process, working with Via Rail and discussing the possibilities.
“We’ll look at all the options and present that for consideration and let municipal leaders tell us where they would like us to go for next steps.”
The advisory committee meets on Monday, March 4.
