Madison Excavating- Major Peewee
The Madison Excavating QRD Peewees finished up the regular season in first place in the east and started playoffs this weekend against Central Ontario Wolves. The Devils now lead the series 2 -0 with game 3 scheduled for this upcoming Wednesday.
Game one of the playoffs was Saturday at the CAA Arena. The Devils scored early in the game with a goal from Liam Philip, assisted by Brody Partridge. The Wolves tied it up before the end of the first set to tie the game 1-1. Thomas Kuipers would score the lone goal of the second to give the Devils the 2-1 lead, assisted by Partridge. The third would remain scoreless for both teams until Quinte was able to add an empty netter in the dying seconds of the period. Scoring in the third was Jared Langdon, assisted by Partridge. Mike McIvor was solid in net for the win
Game two had the Devils on the road to Little Britain to take on the Wolves in their home rink. The game was a tough physical battle back and forth throughout the first. The Wolves struck first on a lucky goal in the second, but the Devils answered back soon after with a goal from Kuipers, assisted by Ben Danford. Late in the third, Quinte would add the go ahead goal from Langdon and assisted by Philip and Caleb Martin, to make it a 2-1 game in their favour. The Wolves worked hard to the dying minutes, but Dean Spry stood tall between the pipes and held on to the lead for the win.
Game three of the series will take place this Wednesday at the CAA Arena at 7:30pm where the Devils hope to close up the series against the Wolves.
Free Flow Petroleum- Minor Midget
The Minor Midget Free Flow Petroleum Red Devils are tied at 4 points each with the North Central Predators.
After a brief hiatus in games, QRD travelled to Rama for game 4 of the second OMHA series play downs. North Central were quick to register on the scoreboard with an early goal in the first period. Zack Brooks answered with a Quinte goal shortly into the second period from a pass by Daniel Michaud. However, by the end of two periods the Devils were trailing 3-1. Luke LaPalm scored early in the third with assists from Ethan Broek and Hunter Hall but never gained the edge on the Preds.
Final score was 3-2 with Alex Lucas as net minder.
Game five is tomorrow (Monday Feb 25th) in Rama.

Walsh Fencing- Novice
Walsh Fencing Novice Clinch 1st Place in ETA
The Walsh Fencing Novice team travelled to Markham on Sunday afternoon for their last Regular Season game with 1st place on the line. Quinte dominated the game from the opening faceoff right to the final buzzer on route to a 9-1 victory over the Waxers. They finished their regular season with an impressive 23-5-2 record, and top honours in the Novice ETA.
The team now faces the Clarington Toros in the first round at home in Madoc on Sunday afternoon.
Pita Pit- Minor Peewee
The Pita Pit Minor Peewees pulled out a huge 4 points this weekend which moved them up to fourth place in the division to make the OMHA playoffs.
They will have their hands full as they will square off with the top ranked team Central Ontario Wolves.
On Saturday the Devils were down 3-1 going into the third period. With their season on the line Quinte came through with one of their best periods of the year to pot 3 goals and come out with a 4-3 victory over the Whitby Wildcats.
Goals. Andrew MacNiel, Deke Osterhout, Rylan McCormack and Pax Murphy.
Assists. Owen Cassidy (2) Evan Erwin (2) Dawson McIntosh, Mason Boyer and Sam Thompson. Reece Herman got the win for the Red Devils.
On Sunday they travelled to Kingston to take on the Frontenacs. In another must win situation the Devils would prevail and squeak out a 2-1 win.
Goals. Christian Sokoljuk and Evan Erwin.
Assists. McCormick. MacNiel. Murphy and Osterhout. Liam Boyer took the W in this one.
McInroy Maines- Major Midget
The McInroy Maines Major Midget Red Devils have moved on, to the second round of the ETA playoffs with a 3-0 series win over Oshawa.
Game one, was a 2-1 overtime win where Sam Dingle stood tall in the net and goal scorers were Nolan Dawson and Jaxen Boyer.
Game two once again went to overtime as the boys came back from a 3-1 third period deficit and finished the job early in the overtime stanza. Goal scorers were, Dryden Minifie, Leif Murphy, Marshall McFarland, and Kyle McMechan (2) including the winner.
Game three was a solid 6-3 win on home ice to wrap up the series. Karsten Leonard scored three times with Garrison Moore, Marshall McFarland and Nolan Dawson adding singles.
Round 2 will be a home and home round robin with Whitby Wildcats and Central Ontario Wolves

The Pond at Rhino Sports & Playland- Minor Atom
Round 1- Game 3- Quinte vs. Clarington
On Wednesday, the Rhino Sports Minor Atom’s hosted the Clarington Toros for their third game in the series.
Quinte needed one more win to move on to round 2. The Toros got on the board first, but Quinte fired back with a goal by Grayson Hunt. The score was 2-1 for the Toros at the end of the first period. Quinte started the second period off with a goal by Chase Cybulskie. And would continue to score another three goals in the second period. Nate Rashotte fired two in the net and Brody Harrison scored one as well. At the end of the second period the score was 5-3 for the Devils. Rashotte scored the first goal of the third period to get the hat trick! Final goal was scored by Brayden Davidson. Assists went to: Maclean Chisholm (x3), Rashotte (x 2), Hunt (x2), Cybulskie, Gabriel Davis, Ty Leavitt and Keegan Goulah. Another strong game in net for Charlie Vos. Final score was 7-3, Quite swept the Toros to move onto round two against Barrie.
Round 2- Game 1- Quinte vs. Barrie
On Saturday, Quinte faced off against the Barrie Colts for the first game of their series. It was a back and forth game, Barrie scored first at the end of the first period. The devils first goal came in the second period on a power play when Davis started off the passing and tic-tac-toe, Harrison scored for Quinte. The second goal came a few minutes later when Chisholm passed to Rashotte who fired one past the goalie. At the end of the second period, the score was 2-1 for the Devils. The third period was a nail biter with the Colts scoring two goals, but Quinte wasn’t giving up yet. Jake Gawley passed to Ryan Foley who found the open net and the game was tied. This game was going to overtime! Quinte was first to score when Chisholm got a break away and went top corner for the goal. Quinte won game one 4-3 over Barrie. Daniel Yeo got the win in net.
Up next, Barrie travels to Madoc on Saturday for game 2 and Quinte travels to Barrie on Sunday for game 3.
Major Atom- KKP
The Quinte Red Devils KKP Major Atoms played two games this past week.
On Tuesday they travelled to Kingston to face the Frontenacs and won 4-1.
On Saturday they travelled to Oshawa to face the Generals and lost 5-2.
The Devils qualified for the next round of ETA playoffs with a 3-1-0 record.
The Devils have 3 games this week.
Bonn Law- Minor Bantam
The Bonn Law Minor Bantams advance to the second round after posting wins in game 2 and 3 in their series against the Peterborough Petes.
The boys won 8-5 on the road on Tuesday with Liam Murphy between the pipes. The boys got off to an early start leading 6-1 just into the second period, but Peterborough rallied scoring 4 goals before QRD netted another two in the final few minutes. Scoring credited to Cal Uens, Aiden Haller Brady, Michael Dolton, Ben Davy, Ethan Quick, Christopher Brydges and Ethan Miedema (2). Helpers were given to Uens, Miedema (2), Brydges, Quick, Spencer Cranley, Tyson Carr & Sid Wakely.
Aidan Crowley started in net for game 3 back home on Thursday at QSWC where the boys ended the series with a 7-1 win. Scoring came from Ethan Miedema (2), Jack Dever (2), Ethan Quick, Spencer Cranley and Cal Uens with helpers to Aiden Haller Brady (2), Miedema, Dever (2), Uens and Josh Cunningham.
The boys look to begin round two this week against either the Barrie Colts or Ajax Pickering Raiders. Schedule TBD.
Foley Bus Lines- Major Bantam
Quinte takes a 2-0 game lead over Whitby in the opening round of playoffs.
On Thursday the Devils hosted the Whitby Wildcats for game 1 of the first round of playoffs. The Devils would find the back of the net first just 3 minutes into the game and then would strike again and take a 2-0 lead heading into the second period. Whitby would answer back in the second scoring twice and tying the game at 2 goals each. In the third period both teams would score twice and the game would be tied again at the end of regulation. The game would go into a 10 minute sudden death overtime period. Your Devils would score in the OT period and take the game 5-4 over the Wildcats.
On Saturday the boys travelled to Whitby for game 2 of the series. The Devils would get on the scoreboard first 1 minute into the game but the Wildcats would answer back a few minutes later. In the second period Quinte would score twice and Whitby once. It was 3-2 Devils at the start of the third period. Quinte would strike first in the third and increase their lead by two goals. With less than a minute to go Whitby would pull their goalie and have a man advantage over the Devils. This helped them find the back of the net one more time but it wasn’t enough as your Devils would hang on for the 4-3 win and take a 2-0 game lead in the series.
The Devils will host Whitby for game three Thursday @ 8:15pm at the QSWC (Family Dental Centre).
