Hastings Prince Edward public health officials are getting ready to issue notices to students to get immunized or face possible suspension from school.
Public health officials have been holding immunization clinics in schools, with the final session scheduled for St. Theresa’s Secondary school in Belleville on Friday.
Students not immunized by April 12 could be suspended from school.
Program manager Bill Sherlock tells Quinte News notices will go out next week, the week of March 4.
At the beginning of this year more than 2,000 students had not been recorded as immunized.
He says students should make sure their immunization record is up to date.
They can get their shots at the health unit if they need to.
Sherlock comments on the outbreak of measles in Vancouver and some cities south of the border, in the United States.
He says measles can lead to pneumonia and other complications.
The measles series of vaccination are given in two sessions, before children enter the school system.
