The Trenton Golden Hawks and Cobourg Cougars were the national game of the week on CHCH on Saturday afternoon, and the game was one to remember.
The Golden Hawks, who have failed to beat the Cougars all season, did not start the game well.
They trailed in the game early, and by the early part of the second, they trailed 4-0.
Something happened, and it was pretty special.
Trenton scored six of the next seven goals, and came back for a very dramatic 6-5 victory in Cobourg, scoring the winner with just over 40 seconds left in regulation. CLICK HERE TO SEE THE GAME SCORESHEET
Trenton out shot Cobourg 44-28.
Although it will not change the results of the rankings in the East Division, it was the first time this season they have been able to beat the top team in the East.
It was the final game of the regular season, with the G-Hawks before the first playoff round against the Whitby Fury. Although no schedule has been released, it is expected Trenton/Whitby will start their first round series next weekend.
With Friday being a home night for Trenton, and the G-Hawks having home ice, we could see the series start then.
