Belleville will have a contingent of councillors and staff members attending the Ontario Good Roads Association conference in Toronto next week.
The Good Roads Association celebrates its 125th anniversary this year.
It covers a number of municipal-related issues, from transportation to environmental assessments.
Councillor Garnet Thompson tells Quinte News he wants to ask provincial officials “what kind of infrastructure funding is available for the many capital projects that the city is undertaking this year. I’m also concerned about funding for social housing.”
Thompson says he will be asking cabinet ministers about Bill 66. He says there have been some changes in the Bill but it still affects source water protection.
Councillor Chris Malette says it’s a good opportunity for first time councillors.
He says there’s also the question of funding, and especially the gas tax.
Councillors Pat Culhane and Bill Sandison will also attend the conference.
Culhane had been a member of council previously, returning to city hall in the 2018 election after a break of a number of years.
She says the conference is a great opportunity to catch up on the various municipal-related issues.
